About Me
Hello, my name is Rand Aljetawi and I am currently a senior in high school. I am passionate about creating a difference and bringing awareness to issues that are not discussed as much as they should in our society.
My Story
As a child, I was always full of energy and life, experiencing joy with every moment of adventure, and feeding my curiosity with books. I loved to create art and bake beautiful creations for everyone around me to enjoy. I never truly had any issues with myself growing up, and would describe myself as a social butterfly. Unfortunately, as I grew older and hit the delicate age of 11, my perspective on life began to change.
I began noticing things changing about myself, physically and mentally. My outlook on life and my body began to worsen, and I would feel myself crawling in my skin some days, my mental health suffering as a consequence. I struggled with an eating disorder which lead to terrible physical and mental outcomes that would change me for years to come. Fortunately, I sought help and restored my health and happiness, and I am proud to say I learned so much from my journey throughout recovery.
My mission is to bring awareness to one of the highest mortality mental illnesses, and debunk all the false misconceptions about eating disorders. The truth is society is unaware of the disastrous effects of diet culture and online influence. I am here to open up a safe space to ask questions and provide professional platforms to seek closure and advice. You are not alone.
This is why I decided to create Nourish to Flourish, to show how powerful it can be to stand up to the harmful stigma of being “imperfect”. Life is so much more than unrealistic standards, and I welcome everyone to learn more about these undiscussed disorders. Feel free to ask any questions, comments, or concerns, and make sure to check out my blog and podcast!
